King of Crabs | CheapSkates
We're taking a look into the early access of King of Crabs. This appears to be a massive multiplayer PvP battle royale where each players takes on everyone else for battle to the death. We're not sure how the matchmaking or groups work yet, but we'll find out. Watch our video to see our first foray to find out more of the details.
While I don't want to judge too harshly for the fact that this is both a free to play game and still in early access, but I feel like King of Crabs has much to be desired. The game play lost my interest fairly quickly. It seems well suited to mobile, but for a desktop PC, it need some more dynamics added. These features may very well be on the way. I will admit it did give me some satisfaction to scurry around and crush other crustaceans with the different weapons that could be found on the map. It also played well on making you focus on when it was safe to attack or not, but often felt like your success was as much based on luck as it was with any strategy.
CRAB BATTLE! Much like the classic YouTube video satirizing the great Metal Gear Solid 3 the novelty wears off very quickly. If you're confused type crab battle into YouTube or play this game. It's free and you can play it without touching the controls. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself. I played a good portion of this game with my hands in the air. Overall the game was a fun distraction for 10 minutes but doesn't really do anything all that well.
It's an okay battle game, though it's not one that I would likely play again. There isn't much for one to do besides go around eating and killing things. I think it's one that works best for mobile instead of desktop, I just haven't played the mobile version to have the comparison. I know that it is still in the development phase right now, so things could change for the desktop version. With the game being free you don't lose any money if you decide to play it for yourself, but it does have things you can purchase with real money, if you decide you want to have an advantage against other online players.
