Retrograde Arena | CheapSkates
We try out Retrograde Arena which is a top down, arcade style PvP vehicle shooter game.
A physics based twin stick brawler with a twist where your weapons doesn't kill the other players, but the environment does. Battle against other people with up to 6 players in a hectic match and rebound them to their demise with a variety of different weapons. Use physics to your advantage by using your own weapon's recoil to evade or propel yourself to great speeds.

Physics, Physics, Physics! That's the most challenging part of this game. The point of the game is not to unleash enough bullets to lower your opponents health, but rather to push them into "red" walls with your bullets. But be warned, for each weapon type, each time you fire the recoil will send you back in the opposite direction at seemingly unpredictable rates. This coupled with multiple players firing and maps that change makes it challenging. I really want to like this game. The aesthetics are awesome, but the unpredictability of how your character reacts to your own shots makes it very frustrating. I'm not writing it off yet, but I think it could use a little refinement.

Retrograde Arena? More like bad digital air hockey. I had no idea what was going on for most of this and couldn't control anything. Which I think is kinda important for a game where you can't touch the walls. But it is definitely worth the price. Which is free. So check it out if you like bright colors and a cool soundtrack.

I think that this game has a lot of potential and I like a lot of what it has to offer with the different weapon upgrades. I'm just not a fan of how the bullets will cause you to blast in one direction, but moving normally is really slow. I wish that some of the game mechanics should be able to be adjusted so that you can choose how you play the game. That way you can customize the gameplay to suit everyone involved and make it a more enjoyable experience. Overall I kind of liked this game, but I don't think it's one that I would return to unless they added more to it or changed things to make it better.
